This is a question we hear a lot, and one that everyone seems to have an opinion on so we will give you our first hand opinions on how to safely inject yourself with anabolic steroids. Things we will cover in this article will be what supplies you should have on hand, where you should inject yourself, how to draw up and inject yourself and some tips and tricks.
Supplies Needed
It’s always a good idea to make sure you have everything on hand before your gear arrives. You can get everything you need at London Drugs or any pharmacy near you.
- Drawing needles, we use 18 to 23 gauge needles which you can buy in strips of however many you require
- Injection needles and syringe. Use a 25 gauge 1.5″ needle with a 3 or 5cc syringe. Again these come in strips from the pharmacy
- Cotton balls
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Sharps Container (don’t be gross and just throw them in the garbage, you might hurt the garbage man)
- optional: bandaids
Pro Tip: if you are feeling shy or embarrassed to ask at the counter for the needles and syringe, remember all you have to say is that you are on TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) and
Choosing a location
When it comes to choosing where to inject yourself with steroids, you want to avoid areas where you run the risk of infection, discomfort or pain or other issues. There are three main areas you can safely inject anabolic steroids by yourself.
The Buttocks
The buttocks or gluteus maximus is the most common place people inject steroids. This area is popular because of the large area of muscle and low risk of nerve damage. When injecting you want to aim for the top part of the glute and out towards your hip. This allows the steroid to be evenly absorbed and is fairly painless. If you are injecting larger amounts, you want to choose this area.
Quadriceps or Quads
These are the muscles located on the upper front part of your leg/thigh. This is one of our favourite places to inject as it is the easiest to reach by yourself and you can do it sitting down. However it can be a bit more painful, especially for beginners. Again there is very low risk of nerve damage in this area and it also offers good absorption into the body. Target the upper part of the glute towards the outside of your leg.
Deltoids
Your deltoids are found on your shoulders on the outside of your arm. This area is typically only used be seasoned steroid users as you need to be careful not to hit the brachial plexus nerves.
We do not recommend injecting into your biceps or pectorals. You can seriously damage nerves in those areas or get an abscess. People often think that if they want their biceps to get bigger they need to inject the steroid in their bicep, but that simply is not how things work. Steroids are slowly absorbed into your body’s bloodstream and as they travel throughout your entire body, they impact ALL the muscles in your body.
Preparing for injection
Proper personal hygiene and sterilization steps are very important to safe injection of steroids. The last thing you want is a painful infection or even worse, necrosis or tissue damage.
- Wash your hands!
- Clean the surface you are putting your needle and vial on with an alcohol wipe or cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol
- Unwrap the drawing needle and screw onto the syringe
- Wipe the top of the vial with rubbing alcohol
Drawing up the steroid(s)
- Push the needle into the top of the vial (only once it has been cleaned with alcohol)
- Draw back the needle filling the syringe with the required amount
- Switch the tip to the smaller 25gauge injection needle
- Dispose of the drawing needle into a sharps container
- Remove any air bubbles by flicking the syringe until all the air is at the top and can be pushed out the needle
- You should see a couple drops come out
Pro tip: if you are stacking more than one injectable steroid, you can repeat the drawing steps so all the steroids are in one syringe. This is more convenient and less painful than doing multiple injections.
Injecting yourself
- Clean the area around the injection site with rubbing alcohol
- Hold the syringe and needle at a 90 degree angle and push into the muscle
- Before you inject the steroids into your muscle, draw back on the syringe first. If you see air bubbles you are good to inject. If you see blood, pull the needle out, apply pressure to stop the bleeding and try again.
- Slowly inject the steroid solution into your muscle
- Pull the needle out, wipe with rubbing alcohol
- Hold a cotton ball until the bleeding has stopped
